As a consultant, I succeed together with my clients. This means that through business process redesign I help clients design organizations to reduce costs, drive growth, and strengthen both short-term performance and long-term.

Together with my clients we go beyond business process redesign (lines and boxes) to define decision rights, accountabilities, internal governance, and linkages. My success is that I work together with my clients through a common design solutions, how to manage complexity and scale to ensure sustained performance.

Through business process design: Together with my client I assess the strengths and weaknesses of the current structure and design a robust new structure. In the current-state assessment, I highlight areas where the organization presents challenges, which might lie in its structure, linkages, or culture, and together with the client I help to define criteria to guide the design process. Through the design process of the workshop of business processes I help my clients to make choices on critical questions such as the optimal business-unit structure.

Link organization structure to the overall strategy: As a management consult, I make sure the business process design focuses on management attention on the strategic priorities and critical operations of each business sectors such as expansion, cost-cutting, or growth. Once the new design is finalized, I facilitate a deployment approach to help my clients to quickly realize the economic value determined by the redesign.

Through accountability: By redesign with the client of performance-management processes, I make sure all units have clear performance measures. Through accountability tools and decision-making frameworks, I help to identify accountabilities for cross-unit processes.

Enable sector-wide collaboration: Achieving large-scale collaboration across different sectors and departments – on customer solutions, product development, innovation, and the like—can unlock tremendous value. I go beyond organization charts to reveal and tap into the informal communities through which the organization shares information and knowledge. I help clients understand the value collaboration can bring and the mechanisms to enable it.

How to handle the complexity in an organization: Effective business process redesign must remove complexity that creates unnecessary cost and organizational friction, and channel what’s left to employees who are equipped to handle it.
